just got that sweet sweet privacy-invading Chrome update on my work computer ✨👌🏼
PSA: once you see this on opening Chrome after an update, to turn it off, run-don’t-walk to Settings → Privacy and security → Ads privacy and then go into all 3 sub-options (Ad topics, Site-suggested ads, and Ad measurement) and disable them all individually 🤪
this is also a great opportunity for organisations to really scrutinise their choice of Chrome as the default/“standard” browser surely 🤔🏢
(for those not in the know: the real-world translation of Google’s “more choice over the ads you see” messaging is actually their new deeply-integrated user profiling and tracking ad platform built into Chrome that “will track the web pages you visit and generate a list of advertising topics that it will share with web pages” by default) 👀😕 via https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/09/googles-widely-opposed-ad-platform-the-privacy-sandbox-launches-in-chrome/
