Been nice having this kitty and her sister around the place.
Love it when a photo accidentally turns out interesting.
#cat #catsofpixelfed #illusion #reflection #cuteanimalsI was on a nice walk through the falling snow this afternoon. Quails were obviously into the weather too!
A California Quail had a meander through the fresh flurry

Some recent work. Starting a series of drawings that take place in a seemingly benign wooded landscape where high strangeness abounds. Ancient pillars that defy gravity. Strange figures and subtle oddities.
I'm calling them the Dark wood series (super original I know!). This one features a solitary pillar with some strange properties..

I might run my own but it seems kinda too complicated for me? I'm not quite computer literate enough to quite wrap my head around it. Maybe a hosted solution but frankly I don't think my posts are worth the cost ๐
So uhh hey mastodon, what's up? Think I'll be starting a new account soon with a diff name but perhaps on a different instance? Any instances that are into video games and boats and well... pretty much anything? haha
Played three sets of doubles tennis, 2.25 hours, for the first time since spraining my ankle almost exactly a month ago. It's not too bad but I'm still not moving 100% by any means and there were two or three sore moments. A little sore now but overall I'm pretty happy with progress. Supposed to play twice more this week but shorter and the matches should be less intense. It'll still be a while before I can properly play singles but it feels good to be back out on the court ๐๐๐
Oh yeah, the place was originally founded in 1960 and some of the first computer gear they got is still there and operational! It's a gov facility so budgets aren't exactly huge and with time civilization has begun encroaching enough that it's not the best place to do radio astronomy anymore. Even so, they still do some pretty cool work around Fast Radio Bursts and mapping the galaxy and whatnot.
Was lucky enough to get a private tour of a local astrophysical observatory. No pictures because it's a radio astronomy facility so electronics were off but I got to go into the workroom where engineers bash together new telescope receivers and whatever other custom parts and electronics are needed. Let me tell you, it was pretty incredible, even to my lay eyes. I'm sure there are a good number of fedi folk whose heads would have exploded at the sheer geekery of it.
