Recently Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta was building an AI data center so large its size would be equivalent to a significant part of Manhattan. What Zuckerberg did not mention was the constructions of 3 new Meta-subsidized, gas power plants https://www.404media.co/a-black-hole-of-energy-use-metas-massive-ai-data-center-is-stressing-out-a-louisiana-community/
'A Black Hole of Energy Use': Meta's Massive AI Data Center Is Stressing Out a Louisiana Community

Details about how Meta's nearly Manhattan-sized data center will impact consumers' power bills are still secret.

I have never felt more like a stereotypical American than today: I have TWO Asian dishes in takeout paper boxes in my fridge!! Just like on TV!!
John Oliver talks about AI slop. Thank you so much for telling the truth, informing about the harm & defending artists. 💚

Hot take: The "batmobile" from Batman Begins is not a batmobile.

Second hot take: Batman Begins would have been much better if it had followed Miller's Batman Year One comic (which I like way better than The Dark Knight Returns anyway).

@Tattie Yeah... I am sure their thai restaurants are 100% authentic. 😜
@coeurl 🤩

Sooo I had some very insistant person about 6 months ago presenting "the math" to me why electic bikes are better for the environment than normal bikes and it all was down to "bikers who pedal more eat more, and food destroys the planet".

Of course we as a society are also encouraging people to get fit, to save on healthcare costs etc. But that was not in the calculations...

"A cyclist is a disaster for the country's economy: he does not buy cars and does not borrow money to buy. He does not pay for insurance policies. He does not buy fuel, does not pay for the necessary maintenance and repairs. He does not use paid parking. He does not cause serious accidents. He does not require multi-lane highways. He does not get fat.
Healthy people are neither needed nor useful for the economy. They don't buy medicine. They do not go to hospitals or doctors. Nothing is added to the country's GDP (gross domestic product).
On the contrary, every new McDonald's restaurant creates at least 30 jobs: 10 cardiologists, 10 dentists, 10 dietary experts and nutritionists, and obviously, people who work at the restaurant itself."
Choose carefully: cyclist or McDonald's? It is worth considering.
P.S. Walking is even worse. Pedestrians don't even buy bicycles.
P.P.S. If you have read this far and still don't get it, this post is SATIRE. Reread it with this in mind.

Fake news. I went to Great Yarmouth 30 years ago and this never happened to me.
@TheBreadmonkey you were 10 years too late
@TheBreadmonkey That middle woman has the eyes of the undead though. You might have been lucky.
@n3wjack @TheBreadmonkey
God you're right, she looks like Linda from Evil Dead

@n3wjack @TheBreadmonkey

And how is that lady on the left sanding up? Physics doesn't work like that! And don't even get me started on mandatory pantyhose and then some asshole making you kneel for a photo.

@TheBreadmonkey
You probably didn't go to Pleasurewood Hills, that'll be why

@aaron

I don't know what this is but I'm assuming it's a lovely community full of upstanding folk

@TheBreadmonkey
It was (is?) a US themed theme park, though I can't specifically remember cadres of dolly birds being there it seems an inevitability.
@TheBreadmonkey I went to Gt Yarmouth 40 years ago and it totally happened. Couldn't fight the women off me. So tough.
@TheBreadmonkey are you sure it wasn't Adequate Yarmouth
@TheBreadmonkey was the waxworks still shit?
