Currently yes, but the cost of beans is going to continue to increase as climate change worsens. We’ve already seen disruptions in harvests and price hikes due to this. We’ll see how it shakes out in the long run for total cost increase.

Also, if we’re comparing buying an energy drink on the go vs a cup of coffee on the go, energy drinks are already much cheaper. The convenience aspect shouldn’t be ignored. Generally though, I agree, buying a coffee every day is for suckers.

Conspiracy theory brain goes: This meme trend has to be an attempt at manufacturing consent to reduce caffeine consumption due to rising coffee prices due to climate change. That way when coffee is phased out, it doesn’t cause a huge outrage and is just seen as a thing only addicts use and it falls into the same “moral failing” BS as any other addiction because we all need to be “healthier”.

I don’t think that’s it though because there are plenty of energy drink companies trying to pick up former coffee drinkers who are looking for lower cost alternatives.

I think it depends on how you pronounce it and context. I’m used to hearing a shorter bruh with a look attached to it as a question for “what are you doing?” vs a longer bruh like “bruuuuuuh” as empathizing like “that’s rough”.

I don’t think you realize how much voter suppression is in the US. Those in power don’t want us voting and are still trying to put up more barriers against it.

  • No automatic voter registration when you turn 18.
  • No instruction in public schools on how to vote or where to find information on voting, candidates, or how to run for office.
  • Requiring registration a month or more before the election.
  • Many states purge the voter roles regularly (especially for BIPOC sounding names), so you have to check that you’re registered to vote a month or more in advance which is easy to forget. Then you have to reregister to vote if you were removed from the voter roles which is often only available by mail.
  • Voting by mail is often made purposefully difficult or isn’t allowed except for senior citizens so you have to physically go to a polling location which is often understaffed because they’re run by volunteers. Usually, it’s taken me an hour to vote not including travel time.
  • No mandatory time off work to vote. If you’re working 80+ hour weeks regularly because you have multiple jobs, you don’t have time to vote unless one of your employers lets you. Hell, even if you’re working 40 hours, several polling places aren’t open outside of normal business hours.
  • ID requirements needing to match your voter registration exactly. Didn’t include your middle name on your voter registration? Whoops, can’t count your vote. This would get immensely worse with needing to show proof of citizenship if the Save Act passes the Senate. This act would disenfranchise most married women and trans people.
  • Polling locations that are far away or change depending on the time/day of the week for areas with early voting where you try to vote 2 weeks before the election.

I didn’t realize how much voter suppression there was till I moved to a more progressive state where I was shocked I didn’t have to jump through a ton of hoops to vote and could register online. This was recent too not years ago.

Huh, didn’t think this was true on first glance, but it is if taken worldwide. In the US, bites are still high, but there are very few deaths from them.

Most of the deaths come from rabies in countries that don’t have widely available rabies vaccines. This seems like a solvable problem like tuberculosis if greed didn’t get in the way.

There are no dates on this posts or sources. I can’t find that this survey exists. I confirmed Bailey is still a professor at Northwestern University.

Anyone else have any info on this? Was this a survey that already happened? That reddit user may have just been created for this survey a year ago and it’s old news.

When fruit get to good mushy point, put in fridge to stop from getting bad mushy fast. Fruit then stay good mushy longer and give more time to eat before bad mushy happen.

Find a hobby you’re interested in if you don’t have one already. Find a group in your area that meets up to discuss or engage in that hobby in person. Make friends with the people in that group by just existing around them and talking about your shared interest. Maybe one of those friendships turns into a relationship, maybe not.

Don’t think of the people there as potential partners but as people you like spending time with and genuinely enjoy being around. If one of those friendships has mutual attraction and becomes a partnership, that’s great! If not, you’ll probably meet other people through them and maybe one of those will turn into a relationship.

Examples of hobbies for introverts that provide more structure for interaction and can have limited talking if needed:

  • Boardgames / dueling card games like Netrunner / tabletop roleplaying games
  • Pinball
  • Video games fighting games or speed running communities are more widespread for in person events
  • Book clubs
  • Hiking, rolling skating, skateboarding, tennis, pickleball, basketball, soccer, bicycling, running, or swimming if you want to get some exercise

Adding onto this, it’s also for helping foster community among marginalized groups who are all passionate about the same thing. It’s hard to develop that community when you don’t see other people from that group in the sport or hobby you’re in.

Creating women only competitions is a way to connect people to help them foster that community and bring other women into the sport so that one day, it won’t just be a male dominated sport.
