This is where I record and explore my mental health with some art.

This is very human.

I've been reinfected with covid. The last time I got covid was three months ago.

How can it be so soon?

My body has been off ever since I got covid the first time, but I keep getting dismissed by doctors.

I was incredibly upset at one point and felt really alone. But I got over it, and now covid is back.

I've been doing Internal Family Systems therapy.

IFS states that people are made up of different parts. Underlying them is the person's true self.

Like members of a family, a person's parts has roles or its own personality. Each part has its own perspective, interests and memories.

This does not mean that a person has multiple personalities. This is more like your feelings have been personified.

I've met some of my parts and will post about them over time

I found a website that maybe explains why crying might make you feel worse instead of better.

It also has a page on how to learn to feel better from crying.

It says:

- Learn to manage your crying better

- Self-compassion

- Have the right person alongside you

I think my problem is that I lack self-compassion. I'm working on that!

I brought this up to my therapist and we'll be discussing it next week.

So now I'm curious. Does crying make you feel better afterwards?

How do you feel after you've cried?

Does crying make you feel better afterwards?

People tell me it does. They describe it as them venting out their feelings and having a sense of release afterwards.

It doesn't feel like that for me at all. Sometimes I feel worse after I've cried. I usually feel fatigued but I feel no sense of release.

Not sure if that's normal.

I used to not like hugs until I went through a pretty rough patch in life. I realised then that I needed one.

I had my old cat back then and she was usually a begrudging participant!

I'm meeting a group of friends for drinks later. One of them hasn't been having a good time. So the two of us planned to meet up earlier to talk and give each other hugs.

Which is a big development because that friend wasn't a hugger until recently too.

These are work booths but I see this as a great place to cry.

I've been trying out Internal Family Systems (IFS) with my therapist. It has been very interesting!

I've met some of my parts. But this was over a long period of time.

I realised I was beginning to forget some of the earlier parts I met, so I quickly doodled them down on paper one night.

I want to explore by drawing and painting them more but I don't know when that will happen. But I do want to get back to drawing for myself!
