Back in July when Biden dropped out and everyone started rallying around Kamala Harris, I had a different mindset at first, I thought we had a opportunity to hold an open convention and allow for Marianne Williamson who I voted for in the primary, and Dean Phillips to have their fair shot.
Of course, it was an unpopular opinion and I ended up deleting a post about my support for an open convention, and instead I went along with supporting Kamala like everyone else.
I shouldn't have, I still thought Biden's primary challengers were not given enough attention or support and should have stuck with that I thought was right. Kamala was nominated without earning it for herself and I think this was a turn off for potential voters.
The reason I bring this up is because Biden's decision to run for re-election pretty much set things up for failure from the beginning. It gave him all the undivided attention and the establishment unfairly supported him over the others.
I never even wanted Biden to be president from the start, he was an out of touch establishment figure who did not meet the needs of those looking for progressive changes like Bernie Sanders would have given us.
When he won the election in 2020, I hoped that it would be his only term and that he would allow for someone younger and with new ideas to become president. But instead he ran for re-election in spite of his age and cognitive decline, and got us all in panic on his chances of winning.
By the time Biden finally dropped out the damage was done. He had a disastrous debate, and days before he ended his re-election campaign someone tried to assassinate Trump and failed to do so, instead killing a firefighter in the stands.
Although the assassin wasn't a Democrat, his actions emboldened Trump's supporters and likely caused those who were planning to vote against him to change their mind and support him out of sympathy.
This election had less voters than 2020, but also more voters than in 2016. And unlike 2016 when Hillary got the popular vote, this time Trump had the popular vote. This made it apparent that he did a better job reaching out to undecided and independent voters.
So now the Democrats are out of power again and people have become convinced that they can't learn from their past mistakes, which is true. People who are looking for progressive change would right now be more interested in a newer more liberal third party if they could be in one.
As for me, I'm not sure why I should even bother even staying in America. We may not even have a 2028 election, or one worth voting in. I vented in a Facebook group earlier today that my interest in Rupert Bear may suggest that I was born in the wrong country.
Of course I can't be positive that I would actually move to the UK or Ireland, but I feel like if I had to trade one set of national problems with another, I would want to live where I have things in common with people.
I'm sorry but in the next two months, I'm seriously feeling like I would be better off if I left America. I just can't handle the thought of living under the rule of Trump who will impose his will on everyone completely dismissive of complaint. I just can't take the pain of it.
Everyone in Colorado, please take extra care to make sure your vote doesn't get disenfranchised, a 2020 election denier is suing our secretary of state with the assistance of Tina Peters's lawyer over a leak of partial passwords that even in full would have required additional verification if used.
If the election denier Shawn Smith wins the lawsuit, 34 of Colorado's counties would have to hand count their ballots which could result in ballots getting miscounted or potentially disqualified by excessive scrutiny measures that might get implemented in some places.
This whole legal challenge is without question an eleventh hour act of desperation to throw a wrench into democracy. The secretary of state's office identified the problem, changed passwords, and let go of the one who leaked the spreadsheet.
Responsibility was taken, yet unfortunately some people refuse to accept the truth and when whoever is already denying who won in 2020 and is working with Tina Peters's defense lawyer, it's a red flag.
This movie may be six years old but it's still very damn relevant. It serves as a reminder of what can happen again if we don't vote, and we only have two days left.
It's that time once again to show that 15 year old low resolution monstrously that I created back in 2009, the music video I titled Rupert Bear's Thriller! Featuring the Nelvana animated Rupert and that Michael Jackson song you've heard all month long. #rupertbear
