The @W8RP net had a special guest tonight courtesy of a band opening - #N8RKE Larry checked in from North Royalton, Ohio (about 120 miles away from Ann Arbor) with a good strong signal.

Propagation has been variable through the course of the net which starts at 800p local time and continued through and beyond the 850p sunset. It felt like the wildfire smoke had something to do with it.

cc @W8HF for interest

Here we go again with someone using a clear node and an analog radio through DVSwitch Server to get back to my system through DMR when they can connect directly to Allstar. Why? Why do people do these things?
Do they enjoy being weird squished robots with plastic sheets hanging in front of their faces just for fun, or something?
@M0YNG It's very basic stuff, but I still see folks who don't have a clue why they are sending multiple copies of their FT8 tones at 2/3/4 times the correct spacing because they haven't enabled split or fake and they are transmitting ludicrously high levels into a terrible audio transmit chain at less than half the audio bandwidth. I also see start-up splats where some n00b is using ALC to set the transmit level, when there's a flippin slider on the actual WSJT-X page to set the level. Sheesh.

The weather cooperated and we had an amazing view of the total eclipse from my backyard! Awesome day with my family and four other ham radio friends including my Elmer who administered my Amateur Radio Novice exam 40 years ago!

Just migrated from @KD5EDY because I have a new call. Actually it’s my dad’s old call, and I upgraded it several months ago, but whatever! #hamradio
It is not much, but everybody has to start somewhere. It works for me -- for now at least. The two hamsticks on there are the 20m MFJ rated for 250 W PEP. I worked about 15 countries with them so far on FT8.
#Introduction Hi, I am a new radio amateur from South Africa. I am visually impaired, but don't let that stop you from following me. I can work most modes you do, and those I can't work, I will try to learn. My personal, more social account can be found at [email protected]. See you on the air!
