W5AC - The Texas A&M Amateur Radio Club
We had a blast at the Physics and Engineering Festival today! Our club took the opportunity to demonstrate concepts and applications from all over the magical world of radio. We discussed how signals can get around the world, how computers interact with radio, and how to get involved! We are thankful for the opportunity to participate and look forward to doing even more demonstrations next year!
W5AC has restored order at Coulter Airfield in Bryan! When a mysterious signal began interfering with the main communications frequency, local pilot Dr. Charles O'Neill (KB1WOL) contacted us for assistance. On Saturday our members met up and tracked down the source of the interference to a broken golf cart radio. W5AC thanks Dr. O'Neill for the opportunity to conduct the foxhunt!
@N0ZB W5AC at Texas A&M has been active with nets (including that university in Austin), foxhunts, license testing, and the occasional contest.
The past few weeks, we've had some foxhunts on campus. For the fox hidden on December 22, Dave W5QZ was the only person to find the fox. It was located on a transformer near Beutel Health center. After the January meeting, the fox was hidden on a transformer in Academic Plaza. Anna KJ5CKW and Braxton N5REV found it. Two weekends ago on January 27th, the fox was placed on a generator and Norah KJ5DNN, Jerry KI5VYD, Clara, Braxton N5REV, and Anna KJ5CKW found it.
Over the last two weekend we had several foxhunts. It was hidden near the chemistry building the first week and on a bench near Aggie Park last weekend. Congratulations to KJ5CKW, KJ5DAO, Jackson, N5REV, and Clara for finding the fox the first week! Congratulations to W5QZ for finding the fox the last weekend! The fox is back out and transmitting on 146.565 for the final foxhunt of the semester.
Over the last weekend we had another foxhunt. It was hidden on the balcony of the main rec. Congratulations to W5QZ, KJ5CKW, and KI5TMS for finding the fox! The fox will be back out and transmitting on 146.565 on Friday.
Over the Thanksgiving weekend we had another foxhunt. It was hidden under the Plank Bridge in Aggie Park. Congratulations to KJ5CKW, W5QZ, and KJ5DAO for finding the fox! The fox is back out and transmitting on 146.565.
Two weekends ago we had another foxhunt. It was hidden on a duct near the aerospace engineering building (HRBB). Congratulations to KJ5CPO, Harry, KJ5CKW, W5QZ, KI5VIB, and Shreyes for finding the fox! The fox is back out and transmitting on 146.565 until tomorrow morning.
