To us #Pirates that's just an excuse: There have long been games that are successfully being operated by the community. Data protection and other legislation apply to volunteer operators. Gamers who consent to the transfer of their data and are informed about the new framework should not be patronised and deprived of their favourite games altogether because of possible cutbacks, but should be given a choice!
