The storming of the Bastille was essentially a riot that won, spelling eventual doom for all monarchies. In France, they still observe it 234 years later—though it is high time for another revolution there.
When we finally topple the current system by which a small number of oligarchs dominate everyone else, people will celebrate that for hundreds of years, too.
“If you’re a sexworker, think VERY carefully about joining Threads, because here’s what Mark Zuckerberg did to me: I had a FB account as Mistress Matisse, but FB scraped my legal name from somewhere else and then changed my displayed NAME on my account without notice/consent. Yep.”
Also notice how often the call for climate action avoids addressing serious structural change in how we live in favour of glitzy substitution schemes:
ie ‘let’s all get electric cars’ instead of ‘wow, private transport is inherently wasteful and damaging’
Tired of *still* seeing people talk about #ruthbaderginsburg as if she wasn't just another tool of western imperialism

"Macron’s government has taken an unprecedented step in the repression of social and environmental movements. On June 21, the government decreed the dissolution of Earth Uprisings, which involves over 140,000 supporters and over 150 local groups. This was accompanied by waves of arrests of activists across France...
"We propose to continue making the Uprisings of the Earth visible in public space in our territories around the world : in front of social centres, through inscriptions on walls, with banners and parties, rallies and direct actions, and any other actions adapted to our contexts.
"For the global uprisings of the earth, and in solidarity with all those around the world who face repression, we, collectives of struggles and organizations from different countries, are calling for solidarity on Wednesday June 28 (or in the days that follow, depending on the context) in a variety of ways. Dozens of rallies against criminalisation will be held across France, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Catalonia... and other territories will follow!"
« Contre la criminalisation des Soulèvements de la Terre en France, appel à des actions de solidarité partout dans nos territoires ! »
