Yes, I’m a dragon. No, not physically—but that’s the least important aspect.

I’m also a Jew. Sometimes I talk about Judaism.

Minor PSA: Items with a CW including "gripe" are where I manage emotions when I'm struggling with a task. Suggestions to fix the actual problem are welcome!

I'm getting really tired of recipes that only give instructions for a stand mixer. If you, recipe-sharer, have one? I'm happy for you. But unless you're doing fancy molecular gastronomy, the basic type of cooking was done before power tools. The rest of us need to know some qualitative information.

How should the mixture feel in the hand/to the spoon? Does a particular texture change have a meaning? Does one of those signal an 'overdone' point? And so on.

Once you realize it’s not “age verification”, but actually “identity verification”, then it’s easy to understand that the real goal is “papers, please” for the entire internet.

NO. If you don't already have one, you DON'T need to go get a gun.

What you really really need to do?
-de-escalation training
-First aid training
-Gunshot wound first aid specifically
-unarmed self defense, pick any

it is funny to me that on one side of the argument, the extreme view is "we are creating the antichrist and the machine god slave will herald in a new society"

and on the other side, the views that get labeled as extreme are things like "i don't want to use it, it gives me the ick"

My "No, your use-case does not negate all of the horrifying externalities" t-shirt has people asking a lot of questions already answered by the shirt

"I had just finished painting an Australian musician when I realised I had forgotten to include his instrument."

"Nah, I just painted it over the top."

A member of my extended family is working on an Android app designed to provide good audio access to Project Gutenberg. To submit it to the Google Play store, he needs at least 20 testers to use the app regularly for 14 days. Testers can be blind or sighted, and both are wanted so their experiences can be compared. I promised to post about it here because blind users and champions of accessibility seem well-represented on the Fediverse, so please spread it around.

If you are interested in volunteering to test the app, which he hopes to have ready for you in about a week, email Frank:

I am not the first person to point out that a “Luddite” isn’t someone who hates tech — they hated the EXPLOITATION OF PEOPLE by capital through the use of tech. Too many of my peers are on the wrong side of that and a lot of us are watching and making notes and will remember.
