Developmental Biologist interested in tissue self-organization.

Why are climate activists more loudly criticized than fossil politicians?

Why is there more outrage about poor people living off the social system than rich people paying no taxes?

Why did "but her emails" trump Trumps daily scandals?

Why is blocking instances more loudly criticized on the Fediverse than being an actual nazi instance?

We should stop listening to the loud people.

Excited to share that our study on how cell-cell affinity between two cell lineages locally controls cell shapes and globally drives self-organization of an entire tissue is out now in Nature Communications.

Eya-controlled affinity between cell lineages drives tissue self-organization during Drosophila oogenesis - Nature Communications

Oogenesis depends on close interaction between germ cells and the surrounding somatic niche. Here the authors demonstrate that Eya controls bilateral affinity at the germline-soma interface to generate self-organizing inter-lineage units that ensure oocyte maturation.
