Anyone Like Alan Lomax?

I'm working on a writing project and want to do a good job representing the experiences of #trans people who are also #intersex. A huge thank you to @[email protected] for speaking with me!

Anyone out there open to me interviewing them about their experience? I'm happy to anonymize.

Okay, I lied.

NOW I am going to stop.

(But you are going to think about this during your holiday family dinners. )

@mekkaokereke A version of the story linked below was on NPR yesterday. It was unbelievable to me—though it shouldn't be.

"KRAIG LEWIS WAS living in Connecticut and was nine credits away from his MBA when the neighborhood he had spent his life trying to get away from came back to haunt him."

The Largest Gang Raid in NYC History Swept Up Dozens of Young People Who Weren’t in Gangs

The prosecution of the Bronx 120 raises serious questions about due process and the abuse of federal conspiracy charges.

@mekkaokereke While we work to eliminate this broken (but working as designed) system, I encourage folks to contribute to bail funds. They don't solve the root problem, but they help people while we work for that.

Bail funds are incredibly efficient because they use the same money over and over again. As you say, just having cash available can make bogus charges vanish.

Look for local ones in your community, or contribute to the one I support: https://bailproject.org

The Bail Project - Freedom should be free.

The Bail Project strives for a more perfect justice system, one that works for all people no matter their race or wealth. By providing free bail assistance to those in need, we restore the presumption of innocence, reunite families, and gather evidence for change. By advocating for better policies, we seek to take money out of justice and to create a pretrial system that is more just, equitable, and humane.
