Geospatial Analyst and Pagan. I love books and podcasts. Always up for a recommendation. They/Them
At some point I am gonna make a portfolio of all of my Emergency Management maps that I have made for the last three years and call it: Basic Bitch Maps... Basic Cartography for Emergencies.
So a while back a interesting trend in Cartography took hold and lots of maps were made, that made road networks look like subway lines between major metropolitan areas. I found this game called Mini Metro and I am thinking of making a version of this for Denver and some major cities throughout Colorado. The attachment is an image from the game.
#gischat For this year's State of the Map..how is the professional registration different then the general registration? The professional registration is $500 and the general one is $150. If I work for the government do I fall into professional or general? Any help would be appreciated thanks y'all!
finally, a map that speaks the truth 😄
Anyone in the #GISChat Community work for EIA? Or the Energy Dept? I need help understanding your energy atlas. TIA
#GISChat has anyone ever used the EIA API? I am wondering if I can bring it into AGOL.. and I found Koop... And am wondering if that's how I bring this API Into AGOL. Any help or advice would be appreciated. TIA.

Just a cool map that I found online a while back. Also, sorry #Denver, you’re really outa line here  . (And yes, I was that weird kid who spent hours looking at the monthly map from National Geographic)

What about you all? Found any interesting #maps lately? Any people and/or hashtags worth following? Is #Mapstodon a thing? Boosts and comments to aid me on my Quest greatly appreciated.

#GISChat I am due for a new computer at work, what specs would you recommend for a Geospatial computer for the next three years? My current Specs:

Model HP Zbook
Ram: 64 GB
Processor: Intel Xeon E- 2176M CPU @ 2.70 ghz
Storage: 2 TB
Graphics Card ( I think?): Intel (R) UHD Graphics P630
Or maybe it's: NVIDIA Quadro P2000
Cores: 6

I am not sure what areas I will need to "upgrade" I would like to have the ability to work with big data and 3D modeling over 3 yrs. Any suggestions welcome.

#GISChat So, I am feeling Cartographic-ly stuck. Like I use the same natural earth tone colors (that's just what I naturally gravitate towards) so I want to design a "game" for myself to push my limits a bit. So if you are willing to play my game here are the rules:

1.) Go to Adobe Color (or any color website) and give me a color Pallet.
2.) Tell me which colors should be use for what elements of the map. Ex: #D96725 should be used for lines.
3.) Pick a Geographic Area of Interest (Not CO)

If you're first interaction with me is to tell me I am duplicating work.. we're not gonna get along... Just saying.
