To celebrate the ongoing annual #Elk Migration (Den stora älgvandringen) over the Angerman river in Sweden, here is a map showing the population density along the river within a 25 km buffer. The migration – and its 24/7 filming – takes place upstream.
My #rstats #rayshader code https://github.com/tts/angermanalven is adapted from the River Seine example by Spencer Schien.
Population data by Kontur in 400m H3 hexagons. River centerline by Natural Earth.
The nr of pages of a few new fiction titles in Finnish (original & translated) is >800! That made me curious. Is the book size increasing in fiction?
Based on the data returned by the Finna API on library titles published between 2000 and 2022, the answer is no, not really. Caveat: children's fiction is included, which probably affects the mean.
Why the dropdown after 2015? A wild guess: changes in library acquisitions policies, emphasizing children's books.
