Older than dirt, but not dead yet. Politically moderate, but currently voting for US Democrats because GOP has lost its mind. interested in geopolitical happenings & everyday people. Have many facets like my avatar.
Second GOP mega-donor comes out against Trump. GOP better ditch Trump and his platform pronto or risk losing both donors and indie voters permanently. While GOP donors support DeSantis, we indies don't. We see him as Trump-lite and GOP loses without about half of indie votes. https://www.axios.com/2022/11/16/trump-stephen-schwarzman-2024-presidential-race
Scoop: Stephen Schwarzman comes out against Trump in major defection

If unions do rise, you will have a seat at the table this time. Cannot undo the past, but can avoid making the same mistakes again. Did not mean to imply we should return to racial and sexual disparity that characterized bygone eras.
@Aravosis
Putin is playing a dangerous game if multiple missile crossed into Poland. He is daring NATO to act. Doubt this is the end of Putin's plan, but likely the beginning.
@TechyTabby @downey @QasimRashid When almost every workplace was union, they were available to majority of working class.Granted things were much different for POC during the Jim Crow era. Unions today would be integrated lessening that disparity..

@downey @QasimRashid One advantage of being a member of the silent generation is ability to remember when unions were strong and our economy and workers were flourishing.

Home ownership was within reach. Good health insurance was the norm because unions chose the plans.& negotiated the amount employers paid toward that. Vacation, sick and other days off were adequate because they were negotiated by unions.

Let go back to those days.

@Aravosis Musk is not stupid. He is a bit loony, but not enough to fail to discern that granting blue-checks to anyone willing to shell out $8/month was going to result in platform being so untrustworthy that advertiser and users would flee.

Convinced this is by design, but what motivated Musk to do this is a great question. Money & power are what usually motivates him.

@Aravosis Musk is behaving as though he wants twitter to fail. Have to consider he may have been offered capital to make this happen by those upset by Twitter bans and removal of hateful messaging.
@mcneely Any other representatives of silent generation (born 1925-1945)?
@mcneely Great-great-granny here. Maybe oldest person in Fediverse
Betting the GOP strategists are trying to convince some long time politicians with name recognition who got pushed out of GOP to return and run for POTUS. They know letting Trump or DeSantis run would hand the Dems the WH unless Dem mess-up and run somebody like Hillary or Sanders.
