I make my own vinegar and talk to strangers

Was searching through public domain photos to add some visual interest to slides for my "Money Across Cultures" class. After a string of fairly generic and bland stock photos of cash, this came up.

Who is the intended audience for a picture like this?

Me, that's who.

You better believe I'm going to repeatedly slip this into slides to wake people up during theory-heavy lectures.

I'm currently teaching an #anthropology course about #money and today we're going to talk about cowrie shell currencies.

Was amused to discover that so many groups used the shell of a particular kind of sea snail as currency that taxonomists (starting with Linnaeus) named the creature Monetaria Moneta.

Literally there is a sea creature named Money Money.

This is probably common knowledge/practice, but as a beginner at #crochet I thought I'd share my tip for threading yarn onto a needle to weave in ends: dental floss threaders!

I've already found it really helpful for thick and fluffy yarns like chenille or plied yarn that wants to split.

I've used this trick #sewing for years after finding normal threaders so poor quality these days that they break on the first use.
