Hot Girl... ... ...Winter(?)
It's this time again! An F2P player sitting in front of a gimmick deck they want to play, knowing they have to commit months of wildcard collecting for it just to get a pile of cards which only gets results in casual games 😅😅
(Yes, I could cut down the rare lands, but they're cards that should be part of ones collection in general)
Even if it's a certified jank deck, I love the current Standard Rakdos Communism deck. It's always fun for both sides when my opponent brings our deck to the match <3
The deck got so much better the last couple of months thanks to Decadent Dragon and the new Greedy Freebooter.
On the Edge is one of my favorite Limited Formats used during Midweek. There's a great variety of decks and cards nobody uses otherwise. Today, I played the event with Orzhov Auras and went 3-0. Two wins were super straightforward, and the last one involved a bit of luck. Great experience in general. The prices this week were... fine.
I'm actually planning to play the event a bit more throughout the day with some other decks. Even if there are no rewards left.
Oh, and I also like how well Amalia plays with Eriette. I'm thinking about including 1 or 2 in my actual Aura deck. Sadly, the card doesn't do much if I don't draw the charming apple queen.
Third draft was a bit sad. Yes, it was an expensive deck, and three colors aren't great. I still believed in it, and the ramp and the bombs worked out quite well. Sadly, it was struggling against decks with some similar powerful creatures, which were 1CMC cheaper.
The draft ended 4-3, which is okay. I'm not super mad, but I still believe a 7-2 would have been possible if I had made some better plays. The games are long enough, and I consistently managed to summon Gishath on curve. I was just unlucky with their effect.
At least, this was my first draft on the main account and also the one with the best pulls. It's something :)
My second Lost Caves Draft went slightly better than the first one. I ended it with a solid 5-3, which was surprising. I thought of it as a bad pile of cards. Well, that's pretty much accurate, to be honest. All 5 wins were a drag and very close, but all 3 loses were devastating. I couldn't do anything at all.
Still, it was a fun experience! I also made a slight profit regarding gems. I can't complain.
Also... Goblin Tomb Raider is turning into my favorite card for drafting. You get solid stats for 1CMC, most of the times it enters as a 2/2 haste creature and you always see them in the packs.
#MagicTheGathering #MTGArena - Finished my first Ixalan draft 4-3. It's not an amazing result, but I'm happy for the first try. I mean, I'm also not a great drafter. Just... fine. Like my matches.
The deck turned a bit wonky with the third color, but I got lucky with quite a bit of fixing. The only problem with the deck was the very conditional removal and the lack of good creatures for the deck in the 2-3 mana area. At least the ramp and bombs were great 😁😁
Wilds of Eldraine is slowly coming to an end with Ixalan at the horizon. The perfect time to look back at the pack. It's the pack of 2023 that I completely fell in love with. Even after seeing what the new one brings, I can say that it's my favorite bunch of cards of the year. For that reason, I'll share my favorite cards for the formats I actively play. I'd also love to hear what your favorite cards and strategies during the WoE era are :)
Historic Brawl: My favorite new deck has to be Eriette Auras and that alone makes the poster child my favorite new card for Brawl. My deck was an attempt to mix Voltron and Aristocrats and it worked shockingly well for me. Super fun deck.
Standard: WoE is the set that made me look more into Golgari and even Black alone for the first time. It changed my favorite color in general, from white to black. One big reason for it is the Mosswood Dreadknight. A card that looked fine to me in the beginning but turned out to be a value machine that can be very tricky to get rid of. Amazing card.
Draft: For the longest time, Dominaria United was my favorite Standard legal Draft pack, but it was put into its place by WoE super fast. This pack is so much fun to draft. I had some great moments with Boros and Rakdos Aggro drafts, but my favorite color for this pack has to be green. It was super hard to beat in long matches and worked great with most other colors. The card that left the most impact for me is Hamlet Glutton. Had my first draft ever with seven wins with a mostly green deck that had three of that guy.
