They/Them

@e_urq I think a lot of the people who had been here a while were quite on guard because the huge rate of growth at the time had the potential to dismantle anything that had been built before it (jury is still out on how much that has happened). I certainly was.
@e_urq I totally get where you are coming from. I guess a telling part of why I feel so differently about the same situation is that, having been here since 2018, getting to know a lot more about others and myself through the friend I met, and seeing how the lgbtq community here had protected itself over the years, I had grown quite used to not feeling the need to give bad faith arguments more rope.

@breakfastgolem hate to say but the vibe has not been great since twitter migration started. Not like we had an instance culture before, it was just like five of us around a burning barrel in a half-collapsed warehouse like some 80s movie, but now that one is developing it's not really something I enjoy

The extremely hands-off moderation has only worked as long as it has because no one wanted to launch drama using here as their platform

@e_urq I have done a similar thing to people who have opinions I respect, so that wouldn’t be any problem to me either.
@e_urq right, I think there’s plenty of room for criticism of stuff like that. I’ve certainly shared articles I’ve disagreed with and mocked them, which is probably of less value than well considered criticism
@hammerhead I kinda think I need a quieter instance though. It’s a very different vibe these days than I’m accustomed to

@hammerhead I don’t even know today. I saw that people were shitposting in fediblock and blasted out a little context and looking at the local timeline they seem to have at least taken what I had to say reasonably well. But i got drawn into relitigating months old meta that has taken up all my attention.

Jorts has changed a lot recently, but a lot of these people seem to be pretty ok and just unaware of things that we are used to on here.

@e_urq hmm, don’t know how I pulled that one off. Here is is again, and a screenshot in case that doesn’t work

@e_urq I’m certain this isn’t what you want to hear, and it clearly bothers you that a team you’re on has a bad reputation amongst your own community. Tbh, you were a big reason I followed that situation as closely as I did, because it’s clear you wanted to do right. But in my opinion you were not successful. Hopefully there’s not another incident that lets you demonstrate a better outcome, but I’d love to see it if it does happen

@e_urq while I find my own writing to be ineloquent, I stand behind the sentiment that I expressed when talking with Adam (on my end this got broken off due to the deleted reply)

It goes doubly for you since you’re, as you’ve pointed out, so intimately familiar with these issues. Although I would accept that my perception that the team was dragging their feet until they could no longer ignore it might be unfair, as I don’t have any knowledge from behind the scenes
