A little #languagelearning strategy that works well for me for non-native writing systems: you've got to learn to write. I see a lot of learners insist they will never write with pen and paper in that language and I'm just...why would you deny yourself such a great learning tool?

Look up some high frequency words in the target language, find a guide to handwriting, and try to produce the script. You'll learn how to read it SO much better, I promise. Currently doing this with #yiddish

Note to the newbs: the hardest thing about starting out here is finding who to follow. On birdland you can just pick a few famous people or news outlets and you have an instant feed. And "the algorithm" starts to show you more stuff you may be interested in.

Here, you have to find it on your own. So scroll through the local timeline and follow a few new folks every day who say something remotely interesting. Add people they boost or follow. Soon your feed will be filled with good stuff!

I speak english fluently and I studied french and spanish at school (skills are bit rusty but they are still there 😆)
