@zuck let’s see if that works!
@chrishudsonjr And it’s not only them. Any company that stores any kind of data about you *will* happily turn them over once ordered. People don’t realize that.
@MaJ1 And there's more! In rare cases where the author, like @neilhimself for example, narrates his own work, you get an experience that's otherwise not achieveable in a printed form.
@MaJ1 That's not cheating - it's just a different medium. After the whole day of staring my eyes off in front of a monitor screen, I really enjoy an hour spent listening to the authors I like. Give your eyes a break once in a while 🙂
@charadon Don’t worry. Your comments and posts will be back soon 😜
@rwg or it could be as simple as: big instance = big server = potentially capable of ingesting terabytes of data that a single-instance meta server could be generating. So they don’t even bother approaching smaller ones regardless of their value.
Wherever I go, all I see is this. Is it really what #fediverse has become? If so, it’s sad. #meta #project92 #mastodon
@tchambers I'm just wondering how big the network traffic will be from such a humongous Meta instance (if they decide to onboard 1.6B users eventually) and if an average mastodon instance will be able to handle even a fraction of it...
@herag for now I have one on each to explore features of each platform, and also because the interoperability is limited/buggy. Lemmy gives me a topic/community focused experience which I sometimes need (a’la reddit), while mastodon is my endless stream of „tweets” from interesting personas or hashtags. Kbin seems to try to have both, but don’t quote me on that.
Is this thing on? 🤔
