One of the many things that bothers me about the #meta issue is that they met with admins of large instances.

Meanwhile, the *vast* majority of instances are small and in fact *want* to be small. They are fine with the fediverse as a whole being large.

They *close* registration -- which is unthinkable by a Meta exec.

Meta operates under the logic of scale, scale, scale. So naturally they assume Big Instances = Good Ones. That's not necessarily true.

@rwg or it could be as simple as: big instance = big server = potentially capable of ingesting terabytes of data that a single-instance meta server could be generating. So they don’t even bother approaching smaller ones regardless of their value.
