Had to take my mastodon instance down for a couple hours while I upgraded my connection. I went from a 1G/s cable connection (Xfinity and I had no real issues) to a 10G/s Xmission connection.
I think those who are expecting a catastrophic failure of the bird site are going to be disappointed. It is going to be slow but inevitable. Just like myspace didn't die in a day but slowly faded away.

Command Line MagicI think the shift by the general public to Mastodon may be historically significant beyond just social media because it's a shift away from centralization and back towards distributed services. I'm hoping this trend continues in general for Internet services.
