Possibly a replicant; definitely an anarchist.

Here’s what parenting can look like.

When I told my dad I was trans, my dad’s response was, “Oh! I can send you jewelry now!” (He was retired and made jewelry as a hobby).

Two days latter, I had a letter in the mail addressed to Joelle, the first time “Joelle” ever got mail, with a necklace in it. Later he made me this one. He told me, “I hope I got the colors right, I looked it up online.”

You don’t have to mourn a child transitioning. You can be the first to do so many affirming things.

Seven years ago, on January 20, 2017, police surrounded and arrested over 200 people in the vicinity of a confrontational march against the inauguration of Donald Trump. Prosecutors brought identical felony charges against almost every single arrestee in one of the most dramatic escalations of state repression of the Trump era. For a year and a half, people around the United States mobilized to support the defendants and beat back this attempt to set a new precedent in repression. The J20 case was one of the most important court cases about the freedom to protest in modern US history—and the defendants won.

Now, in response to the movement to #StopCopCity, prosecutors in Georgia are trying something similar, pressing RICO and domestic terrorism charges against dozens of people who were arrested at random. We strongly recommend reading this overview of the legal support strategy that defeated the J20 prosecution.

On December 24, 1914, during the First World War, German and British troops stationed across from each other in Belgium concluded an informal truce in defiance of their commanding officers.

The Germans began by singing; the British responded with English carols, and both sides shouted Christmas greetings across the wasteland between them. A few soldiers stuck their heads above the fortifications and, not being fired upon, made their way to meet in the middle. Soon the enemy combatants were exchanging gifts and embraces.

The truce enabled both sides to recover the bodies of their slaughtered comrades, which had been rotting where they had fallen in No Man’s Land. Soldiers of both armies mourned the dead together. The next day, everyone gathered for a football match. We can imagine how senseless the war must have felt to them that afternoon.

By January, the commanding officers had regained control and the young men who had laughed, sang, cried, and played together were once again shooting, stabbing, and bombing each other.

It is not insubordination that is dangerous—it is obedience that is dangerous.

Contradictionary

Contradictionary is a glossary of capitalist cant and anarchist argot—a field operations manual for the war within every word. In the tradition of The Devil’s Dictionary, it concentrates a wealth of ideas and history into aphorisms and anecdotes, alternately scathing and sublime.

Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine rocked a red and black #IWW hat as Rage Against the Machine was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He said:

"Rage is not here, but you are. The job we set out to do is not over. Now you are the ones that must testify. If you've got a boss, join a union. If you're a student, start an underground paper. If you're an anarchist throw a brick, if you're a soldier...follow your conscience, not your orders."

For years, fascists have tried to use entryist strategies to establish a foothold in anti-war movements. Now they are ramping up their efforts, seeking to capitalize on the sequence of tragedies that has unfolded in Palestine since October 7.

We have to shut them down everywhere they rear their heads. This flier is from Atlanta in 2020, but unfortunately it is even more relevant today.

Neo-Nazi Groups Are Attempting to Worm Their Way into Rallies Against the War on Gaza

On Saturday, October 28th, neo-Nazis with the "National Justice Party," attempted to rally alongside a pro-Palestinian demonstration in front of the White House in Washington DC. The National Justice Party (NJP), includes white supremacist grifters such as Mike "Enoch" Peinovich, host of the fascist podcast, The Daily Shoah, a reference to the Holocaust, and Joseph...

Despite having gathered over 115,000 signatures of local voters who want to put #StopCopCity on the ballot - the city of #Atlanta is attempting to block the referendum. Today, officials refused to accept boxes of signatures, and claim they are waiting for "a decision from the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals over whether" a recent "judge’s deadline extension was lawful."

When their power is threatened - Democrats - just as with the Republicans - are doubling down on voter suppression and the trampling of basic democratic rights.

What are the "proper channels" for change, when the State is hell bent on refusing to follow even its own basic rules?

'Stop Cop City' petition campaign in limbo after signatures presented to Atlanta officials

Officials from the City of Atlanta have refused to verify tens of thousands of signatures submitted by activists who have been trying for two years to stop the construction of a police and firefighter training center. The city clerk's office on Monday cited a recent court order that it said bars it from processing the paperwork. The development was the latest setback for organizers, who accuse officials of trying to illegitimately push forward a project that they derisively call “Cop City.” City officials say they're waiting for an appeals court to rule on the validity of the time extension a previous judge gave the activists to collect signatures.

AP News

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has indicted 61 people on charges of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act in Fulton County.

The indictment includes 42 people previously charged with "terrorism" for allegedly participating in the movement to #StopCopCity, 3 people accused of distributing handbills, and 3 people charged for organizing legal support for activists. The only thing that connects the indictees is that they have been arrested or detained at some point, however randomly, and accused of protesting against the government's plan to destroy the Weelaunee Forest in order to build a police militarization compound.

The Fulton County prosecutor already withdrew from all cases related to the police training compound in June; likewise, the judge assigned this case immediately recused himself today.

Fulton County now has two competing RICO cases—one against Donald Trump, one against those accused of protesting the construction of the police training center—the former prosecuted by the county District Attorney, a Democrat, and the latter by the state Attorney General, a Republican.

This clumsily constructed case represents politically driven repression aimed at all forms of activism, in the style of Vladimir Putin.

Today, we remember our friend and comrade, David Graeber, who passed away three years ago.

To honor his life, you could read this text he published with us:

But the very best thing you can do is to continue his legacy of anarchist critical thinking. That's what David would have wanted.

The Shock Of Victory
