For the first time in - who knows how many years? - our local council have cleaned the leaves from our road. We can actually walk on the pavements outside our houses.
Was looking at a list of Iain Banks’ Culture novels last night and thinking about re-reading one of them. This morning found a copy of Consider Phlebas - so I guess that’s it. The beginning. Another little synchronicity.
October already! Just not sure where the year has gone. Not sure where each day goes if I’m honest.
Can anyone in the know explain to me why opensubtitles.org doesn't seem to be "open" any more and you need to pay for access to most of its API?
I just find the use of the word "open" in its name a little fellacious.
Just thinking that when I was a boy there was just enough reminders of the Victorian era (old buildings, signs, furniture, old books etc) about the town that made it possible to imagine what it was like. It was another age - but within touching distance. As I’m sitting here now, I can’t imagine feeling the same way about the 1940s, 1950s or 1960s in relation to today. Everything seems so perpetually Now.

Not out until 2025! But nothing written by Higgs has been less than excellent.
