Continuing with the third women in our team, Malin Lange 👩‍🎓 📈

She started in the beginning of 2022 and was busy with tariff designs to incentivize grid-friendly placement of #elektrolyzer. Looking forward to where her #research journey takes her next.

Next up in line is Saskia Bluhm. 👋

She started her PhD in 2021 and is currently researching ways to enhance #energy literacy and self efficacy with her do-it-yourself #smart meter study. 📱 💡

👋 Starting our introduction series with Sarah Henni, the head of our research group. 📈

She finished her PhD in 2022 and leads the SGEM group since then. Check out her dissertation if you are intereseted in her topics: https://publikationen.bibliothek.kit.edu/1000152218.

Battery Storage in Low-Carbon Energy Systems : Deployment and ...

Meet the #team!

This is the current reserach group "Smart Grids and Energy Markets" at the @KIT_Karlsruhe . Since we are new on Mastodon - recently switched from #twitter - we would like to introduce ourselves. In the next couple of days you will get to know each member and their #research interests in detail.

On friday the #research team of ASSUME (https://assume-project.de/) made a plan for the release of their open-source agent-based simulation toolbox that allows users to investigate future #electricity markets designs under various circumstances. Here market participants are reflected by #reinforcement #learning agents, which not only challenges them among themselves but also the market design.

Stay tuned for the DACH+ #conference on #energy #informatics this year!

ASSUME

Yesterday Kim has been at an agent-based #modelling (ABM) workshop for #energy systems organised by @DLR in Stuttgart. We heard a lot about other models and in the pictures you can see Nick Harder the project lead of ASSUME. In this project we develope an agent-based open-source model which implements #reinforcementlearning.

We are curious what happens next im ABM!

Welcoming your newest team member!
She recently joined our research group and will further deal with #energy market related topics.🔋 In more detail she will use #reinforcementlearning to explore new energy market designs. 👩‍💻
Stay tuned!

Last week we had the monthly meeting of our Smart Microgrids as a Service (SMaaS) research project at the KD2 lab in Karlsruhe. It was great to see everyone in person and talk about future ideas for the upcoming test phases!💡

SMaaS – Smart Microgrids as a Service

Applications for our smart grids and energy markets seminar are open, covering interesting topics like microgrids, heat pump operation mechanisms, smart meter projects and spot market trading with deep reinforcement learning.

In our recent paper, we investigate short- and medium-term requirements for battery storage in energy systems with high shares of renewable generation. Through the comparison of a decenral and central planning approach, our solutions offer interesting insights in the trade-off between a cost-optimal system and an equitable spatial ressource distribution.
