Lovely #ski conditions in Les Contamines today

Today's #FreeSoftwareAdvent is greenbone/OpenVAS, a vulnerability scanner.

I use it to help me spot (mis)configuration issues, out of date packages (even with automatic upgrades), and vulnerabilities, with automated authenticated scanning, and reporting.

It is a bit of a pain to install / get working, but this script (https://github.com/martinboller/gse) is useful, if you don't mind sticking (for now, anyway) with Debian Bookworm.

@pikesley_ebooks it’s a lie

Hello; my name is Marty DiBergi. I'm a filmmaker. I make a lot of commercials. That little dog that chases the covered wagon underneath the sink? That was mine. In 1966, I went down to Greenwich Village, New York City to a rock club called Electric Banana. Don't look for it; it's not there anymore. But that night, I heard a band that for me redefined the word "rock and roll"

It's a crying shame that we have The Muppet Christmas Carol but no Muppet Die Hard

Yippe ki yay, muppet hugger

(At recent conference in Munich, talking to a guy)
Him “I’m from Munster, most famous for a band called Alphaville, I don’t know if you’ve heard of them”
Me “I think so, weren’t they big in Japan?”
Him”…”
Mont blanc looking particularly mountainy today
Still a great idea to hold conferences in the US. Furthermore, nobody could have predicted this 12 or 18 months ago, so it’s entirely reasonable to continue with plans that were made in 2024
