In big open lakes, extreme wind events and Hurricanes can do the same thing...except we call it seiche. During #HurricaneIan, the extreme winds moved water from north to south causing storm-surge-like conditions in Lake Okeechobee with a delta of 9.5 Ft (North minus South)!!
