National media in the US rarely report on significant weather events in Grand Canyon country -- perhaps to perpetuate the myth that Arizona consists only of brutally hot desert? The sun hovered briefly over my back yard this a.m., following over 30 inches of snowfall over the past two days. Shortly after taking this photo, heavy snow resumed. By tomorrow morning, snowdrifts will be at least six times higher than my sweet little dog, who is clearly perplexed by it all. 😳😄

My part of the world, spared the recent Arctic blast, is experiencing an atmospheric river of snow. A trio of plumped-up robins populate the deck, along with finches, mountain chickadees, red-backed dark-eyed juncos, a white-breasted nuthatch, pygmy nuthatches, & a Stellar jay who should know by now he’s too clumsy to manage the suet feeder. The much larger Northern Flicker does just fine. Grateful to be warm and sheltered, & able to offer same to the birds. #Birds

Ladies: It’s important to study our “Fuck the Patriarchy” pamphlets, but let’s not forget our manners!
