Today during my perambulations a neighbour came out and shouted, "Watch out for the bear!" I peered about nervously and she kept shouting "Behind you!" I finally discovered it was a cub, hidden in the tree on her front lawn. Here is a zoomed photo from about 3 metres.
Karin took a picture of our house in all its fall splendour today. It looks astoundingly good despite the lack of bears, moose or family dogs cluttering up the frame.
Feeling somewhat nostalgic today from watching tiktok videos of Newfoundland dogs. Here is a picture of the last Newf that we owned, Leo. It was taken in 2014. Leo was the last of the one litter of Newfs that Karin bred. Dog breeding is hard work and it is too easy to keep them.
The dogs were barking so we looked in the back yard and discovered the neighbours were having a visitor over. At least it was not another damned bear.
Today is our 35th wedding anniversary. Karin and I have been together for so long that my memories of a time before we met are hazy and seem no more real than stories about some other, less focused, person.
We now have an ex-tree in our back yard. It used to be a 25 metre tall, somewhat infirm, spruce. The matching pines are still in good health.
The last couple of weeks have been good weather for running. If it keeps up I may start wearing shorts and a t-shirt. For now, I think 7 C is still a bit cold even though the hills are a great way to warm up...and there is enough snow around that the bears are still asleep.
Today it was +1 when I went running and the snow is starting to soften up. Here is a shot of the snow in my yard on the 14th of March and I am dreading the days that it turns into water and plugs all of the street drains in the neighbourhood.
Midna the German Shepherd likes to curl up on the couch and observe while I practice the piano. I suppose the sound of me muttering and swearing is comforting.
Our German shepherd Midna playing fetch in the snow this morning.
