@armadajosh play testing is how we engineer fun!

@yora mm, so you want like an amnesia style game but high fantasy. I’m going to highlight two issues that might explain why there are so few.

1. High fantasy is a high power setting. Ancient powerful magic is real and common. The kind of horror you want requires frailty from the player.
2. What is and isn’t a monster? What should I be scared of? Is that an abomination or just a wizard going about their day.

@yora horrible is a mighty big genre. Slasher, thriller. Etc. and it certainly has some of those elements.

Can you narrow down what you mean by horror

@yora Castlevania
@openindie just a little genocide, yknow as a treat

@openindie

Ultima that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. All hail the Codex! (Shame about the whole nearly genociding the gargoyles whoops)

@openindie I have a character who is critically important to my games story never even get a mention in the actual game.
@nagi I’d recommend against this as a general rule. You want your playtesters to have only the knowledge a normal players (I would give em basic controls)
But the point of the playtest is to put your game in their hands and watch what they do (cause it’s never what you expect)
While it’s tempting to guide them you can’t cause it ruins the test and your game suffers for it.
@Doctor_Doom Godwin’s Law is still alive and well I see.
