@joshuafoust It's funny. At least in my areas, if something is published in Nature or Science, it is more likely to be nonsense. Not always, but often enough that I come in with extra skepticism versus if it was published in a more relevant journal.

Some professional news: I'm thrilled to join CTEC at Middlebury as a senior research fellow. Kinda can't believe the awesome team I get to be part of!

I'll be working out of DC, so DC friends hmu!

The people paid to train AI are outsourcing their work… to AI

It’s a practice that could introduce further errors into already error-prone models.

@TwShiloh I randomly realized today that we don't have a national holiday to commemorate the end of the Civil War. Wikipedia tells me Memorial Day was originally that, but changed over time to honor all vets.
I wonder how many other nation-states that have had civil wars commemorate the day that traitors lost.
Dear #AOIR2023 attendees, please apply for our preconf workshop on conspiracy and alternative epistemologies! We are esp interested in those investigating conspiracy in non-Western contexts, amongst women/NB/queer folx, and populations of color. Deets: https://aoir.org/aoir2023/preconfworkshops/#future
