@phocks I *loved* Foursquare - for the "game", the log, and the guide - their recommendations were always spot on and miles ahead of yelp/google maps etc. It served us incredibly very well when travelling during its heyday.
Very sad to see it shut down.
It’s been echoed in the polls for a while, so it’s no surprise, but what a devastating, disappointing result. I feel so sad that The Voice became such a decisive, partisan issue. We deserve better.

Hot Take: They should bring back Twinkle as a mastodon client. That Nearby tab is a perfect match for how great Mastodon’s local feeds are.

Gowalla is back from the dead and it’s giving me serious nostalgic late 2000s / Foursquare-before-swarm vibes.
It’s very early days (they’ve only just released their first proper TestFlight beta and started expanding testers) but Brisbane is looking pretty great already with all the cute stickers on the map.
