@owillis1977 so very true. Also, I add to your list people who torture women. Nope, no friendly banter here.
@tomiahonen hit refresh, hit refresh - c'mon man!

It's now official, over the next few months, I'll be transitioning in to become one of the 2 co-chairs of the American Astronomical Society's Committee on the Protection of Astronomy and the Space Environment https://compasse.aas.org/

Despite the depressing developments in orbit, this is definitely my favourite committee I've ever been on. The members are AMAZING, we GET SHIT DONE, and it's a perfect way to channel my anger about satellites into powerful and productive actions.

@OrangeR @luckytran: The best answer I've heard so far when getting asked why you're wearing a mask (or even requested to take it off):

"I have a positive IQ test".

@jtwcornell91 @Geoffberner and the first request was so very mild: just paint the side of each satellite facing Earth black. Please.
@amydentata @Utah44 @TonyStark and, once upon a time it wasn't so predatory! Once upon a time, school wasn't this expensive; federal and state gave bigger grants; once upon a time loans could be forgiven or worked off; once upon a time you could discharge those debts in bankruptcy. Once upon a time.
@tomiahonen @PandaChronicle since pregnancy is one of the most vulnerable times in a woman's life to domestic violence and murder, I assume an added bonus of monitoring menstrual cycles is to allow male paramours to dispose of pregnant partners easily and permanently. Oh, and if a woman complains about being thrown down the stairs or punched in the uterus, why, we can charge her with endangering the unborn because she chose such a violent man in the first place!
@CStamp @georgetakei surprise: 50 is hardly past child bearing years. I am one month shy of 57, and I menstruate AND OVULATE every single month. You think I don't have a personal, relevant, and pressing interest in reproductive health care? Not to mention all the other reasons I support women choosing their own paths rather than enslavement to any random bear stumbling by.
@broadwaybabyto "sit with us in our grief" resonates. Resonates hard.
@BLA @futurebird ditto. No letter grades in elementary school either. Such freedom.
