yeah. It's me.

I mostly post things that make me laugh. I gush about my kid, and talk about the most banal parts of my day.

Honestly, somebody should write a mod for Mastodon that covers every post you see with CW.

Problem solved. Of course the loudest ones will say "why should I have to run a plugin? YOU can just as easily CW all your posts for my benefit...."

Twitter has connected me with so many people over the last decade. But I donโ€™t want to be on an unmoderated Twitter with an openly fascist leader

I may continue to use it to DM people I know, but for now Iโ€™m going to try really hard to reestablish my community here

Oh boy... Love the tone police here.

You can block person. You can block and entire instance.

Groovy.

@cadey But people could also just mute @mattblaze if they don't want to see it with the same effect, correct?

I just got scolded for failing to put a "content warning" on the previous post. Sorry, but no.

I try very hard to be polite and follow norms, here and in person. But politics, policy, technology, and their intersection are not merely topics I find interesting in passing, they're central to my work and identity. If you find those things difficult - and I know some people, quite reasonably, do - you really should unfollow and perhaps mute or block me.

Sorry to be harsh, but I am who I am.

From the other room: "Dad, how do you spell 'filled'?"

A message from my 6yo. It's easy to forget. Take a moment and remember.

Hello Mastodon!

There's been lots of tech layoffs recently. Can we get a thread going of folks looking for work and companies hiring?

Retoot for reach โ˜บ๏ธ

So I just posted a number of #entrylevel #infosecjobs. My point isn't that I don't think people can search these out themselves.

Instead, I'm trying to highlight how jobs where the candidate pool will likely be entry level folks but the job description is poorly worded such that many will self-exclude.

Be brave, fuck the requirements section. If it sounds like a job you think you can do:

1. Tailor your resume. Don't lie but definitely highlight the correct relevant experience, skills, and/or knowledge you have.

2. Think about it like an elevator pitch. You have mere moments and few words to tell them why they NEED to hire you.

3. If you need someone to kick your #ImposterSyndrome in the ass, let me know.
