We should bring back the high tax rates on high earnings (and make all earnings fall into your "income"). Something like 90% on all money over $500,000 and say 80% between $350,000-499,999 and 65% between $200,000-349,999. Raise the tax exempt earnings from 0 now to $50k and tax $50,001 to $199,999 to 35%. (All for single, adjust as needed for families)
These are just round numbers, the final ones would likely need adjusting.

@biafrarepublic @sky that's a fun way of saying "I don't know much about Google"
Google has many problems, often the company publicly lies about things, and it isn't the "do no evil" company from years ago.
That said, I prefer open (ish) software to a walled garden, even if that walled garden is better (safer, better privacy, etc) out of the box.
@Oggie @scalzi their salary is public record. $174k per representative or senator, and a bit more (between $193k and $223.5k) for leadership positions.
If I made that I could live pretty well, especially if I made that for decades and made more due to "fair compensation" for speeches and residuals for owning companies from before I was a senator (most weren't exactly middle class even before joining the government)
We do need them to publish where all their non- government income comes from.
@biafrarepublic @sky I use android, a lot (like 2 phones, 2 tablets a lot) and even I can recognize Apple is a tech company. They have some of the best SoCs on the market for example, often beating out Google and Samsung and even Qualcomm.
They are also a lifestyle company, but that isn't exclusive.
@programmeroftheeve I want to repeat the suggestion to seek advice at the local extension office. I don't have any experience in Michigan, but the Livingston County office came up with a search and seems decent

They also have classes on farming, gardening, parenting, anger management, etc. I never knew extension offices did things outside of gardening, so that was cool to learn.
@ech @turretjust @xs4me2 @flexghost I'm fine with business owners defending their business. I'm less fine with them defending the property than them defending people who happen to be caught in the business during a protest. That goes for anyone. Property is never, not should it ever, be more important than lives. That includes the lives of people damaging property.
I have no problem with guns, I have a problem with the obsession side people have with guns. Guns should never be the first option.
@ech @turretjust @xs4me2 @flexghost his gun was being stored (according to his testimony) at a friend's house in WI. In fact that friends is being prosecuted for making a straw purchase.
The only reason Rittenhouse was not found guilty of possession of a dangerous weapon is the law specifies that it would need to be a short barrel.
The fact remains, he traveled to Kenosha with the intent to harm others. He was found not guilty, so he is legally clear, but morally he still failed
