Maybe a hot take, but I'm not intrinsically opposed to paid or freemium models for social media. It's just that twitter is not a company I want to give money to, and also, their premium benefits are nowhere near worth the price.
I am a little worried that people will internalize that it is inherently, universally bad, and future social apps may get pushback on trying to charge for services, which in turn will push app owners down the dark paths of monetizing user data etc.
