@pep0kin Sorry! Crazy couple of weeks. Did you still want to run through this?

@commie_mommy *looks around for people dropping dead in the streets en masse, a plummeting life expectancy, and record level increases in inequality*

Like you say, incredibly misguided application of that theory. Capitalist restoration made the countries in question look like war zones.

@pep0kin You’re welcome!

I’ll get into this in just a bit (not quite as present as I need to be to detail it right this moment), but I honestly do think we’re living in a revolutionary age, & there are a great many reasons for hope and optimism. Always critical optimism, always vigilant, but we would be doing ourselves, our communities, & everyone we struggle alongside a disservice if it was optimism of any other kind.

Like I say, I’ll be right back to this ASAP, I promise, but yes, V likely.

@tililaaa There's a reason that the US has often framed the relative freedom of its official enemies du jour with regard to the freedom they extends to the protofascist forces within those societies, and everyone else be damned.

There's also a reason that any of those countries that gives in to that tends to have all of the gains it made for its people rolled back swiftly and brutally, and also end up experiencing various kinds of pogroms.

@pep0kin have the same stake in defending the existing structures, and it may be possible to shift their consciousness, too. That’s not always feasible — very often, it isn’t, but it’s happened many times before. It depends on the society in question, and it depends on the dynamics at work. It— I’m going to stop saying ‘it depends’ now because that’s really not particularly helpful.
@pep0kin Honestly? It depends primarily on the level of confidence built among the people and how far and deep the network and relationships underlying a revolution go. The violence depends entirely on the degree of violence brought to bear by the ruling class, but that mostly involves utilising people that AREN'T a part of the ruling class to carry OUT that violence; while the police, the army, all that is part of the oppressive state apparatus, they're comprised of people who don't necessarily
@selfagency @melaninbarbie Sorry. Deleted that post, it was way too flippant. In a sarcastic, infuriated-at-twitter-and-its-hoard-of-Nazis manner, but flippant all the same.

@commie_mommy SACRIFICES HAVE TO BE MADE FOR THE REVOLUTION.

... what? No, not the the balkanisation of the nation and the immiseration of the vast majority of the populace, that's just PROCESS, a little side-consideration. I meant the sacrifice of hipster-ing the project appropriately for the Vice coverage.

@rhythmgoddesss @PoojaSlays

Even beyond how... stunning it is for cis people to tell transpeople They manage to miss the point on a FUNDAMENTAL level what they are and aren't, they manage to prove how utterly they miss the point, how little understanding they have of the issue, and STILL think they're in a position to weigh in on it, let alone tell transpeople how to identify. Amazing.

@commie_mommy Dammit, I knew there was SOMETHING my praxis was missing!
