@sinbad Couldn’t have described it better.

I’ve struggled sometimes to demonstrate the “why” to mentees. If an LLM mentor doesn’t even know, it’s a lost cause.

@sinbad Exactly. My example about the next generation learning from YT is that they’ll then go on to teach the generation after, but they won’t have picked up several key lessons. If LLMs are doing the teaching, that’s an even lower bar. It feels like a race to the bottom as a trade off for accessibility. While accessibility is good, the loss of craftsmanship is disheartening.

@sinbad I wonder if other industries have been through something similar. For example, would the first generation of woodworkers be upset about the quality of todays mass produced flat pack furniture?

I notice a lack of good coding practices in ~90% of YT devlogs. Should I be concerned about that, or should I be happy that coding games is more accessible now? 🤷‍♂️

I can’t believe how good Tinykin is btw. I was expecting a mediocre Pikmin knock off, but it’s a well polished 3D platformer that does Pikmin better than Nintendo ever has. Very impressive, and much fun.

I had plans to sort the house out over the long weekend. Instead, I accidentally completed Tinykin and wrote a CI/CD tool for my Unity + Plastic project.

There’s always tomorrow for chores.

@sinbad I’m genuinely baffled by how hard it is to get nice keycaps with a UK ISO layout and actually have the correct glyphs in the correct places. It took me three goes to find a set I’m happy with.
@kevkev Nice. I could use one that tells me what Plastic branch I’m on and maybe which virtual desktop I’m on.
Took some time to make a Unity component that someone can input some text, it will take a screenshot of the game and send to a Trello Card in a specific list. Can be used for Beta testing or bug reports. #gamedev
@djlink Awesome, nicely done! We’re planning on adding something like this to our current project. We’ve been unable to decide between Trello, Slack, Jira and email for submitting the reports. What made you pick Trello, and how hard was it?
@djlink This is the way. The Unity way.
