Donald Trump is a Criminal Defendant

A few thoughts on this historic day

America, America

Apropos everything, I’m reminded of this from Douglas Adams:

1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.

2. Anything that’s invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.

3. Anything invented after you’re thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

Wishing everyone a merry merry and happy happy. May these days be peaceful and joyful. And for those who are feeling alone or sad, know there are others out there who feel the same—you are not alone.
On this day I’m thinking about Ukrainians struggling without electricity, trying to stay warm, fearful of Russian violence and hoping to stay alive amid a war that is so unnecessary. May the coming year bring an end to the madness.
Merry Christmas! ❤️

“Our country has come too far to allow a defeated President to turn himself into a successful tyrant by upending our democratic institutions, fomenting violence, and…opening the door to those in our country whose hatred and bigotry threaten equality and justice for all Americans.” And: “We can never surrender to democracy’s enemies.”

—Jan 6 committee co-chair Bennie Thompson in the final report

Four criminal referrals by the Jan. 6 committee—including inciting insurrection, conspiracy to defraud the United States, obstruction of an act of Congress and one more federal crime—for the criminal occupant of our WH who ended the nation’s sacred tradition of the peaceful transfer of power. Now it’s up to Merrick Garland, Jack Smith and the DOJ to do their job and indict and prosecute this man who continues to undermine our democracy. Are we not a nation of laws?
The longer it takes to indict, the more it empowers the authoritarians.
This game looks fun.. 😅
