Today is the birthday of a hero of mine – Jonas Salk. He was a brilliant virologist whose work led to the polio vaccine. This vaccine saved countless lives and changed medical history by all but eradicating the disease. Unthinkably for today, he relinquished all rights and made the vaccine available for free, making it inexpensive to mass produce. He could've been a very rich man, but he knew that health is a right for all, not a privilege. Happy Birthday Jonas.
