Confession: I’ve started to resent the notion of LGBT+ safe spaces, and even trans safe spaces. Transmisogyny is *everywhere* in *every* lgbt+ community that isn’t exclusively transfems, and a decent number that *are* exclusively transfems (because of internalized transmisogyny). I let my guard down when I’m alone with other trans women who I trust, but in *every* other context I’m stuck playing an elaborate game of don’t-get-labeled-the-crazy-tranny, and that’s true even with the cisgays and transmascs.
