@eniko @winterwolves I'll tell you now, yes they do, and it makes sense and this is a move by valve will hurt more than help and is being done in the name of people fearing for their jobs, who really really don't understand how media law works... At all... And if it did work the way they think it did they'd be so very very fucked and the only thing left would be Disney.

Fun fact memes are technically illegal, but the EU passed an exemption that while legally doesn't truly make sense is the reason why the internet didn't explode a few years ago.

However an even funner the reposting of a meme or the sharing of a meme does violate copyright law and the fact that oftentimes the creator of a meme is unknown does not absolve the individuals infringement or prevent the Creator from enforcing their copyright. Viral content is just a gigantic lawsuit waiting to happen if someone was a big enough asshole with enough money to do so. In fact Hutcherson Law exists as is a firm specializing in meme copyright lawXD

@eniko AI assets are banned?! Fuck valve. I was experimenting with a total faux FMV game based off public domain films and sources. AI modified backgrounds, animation loops, facial tracking either AI assist then an AI pixel density filter program to make it look like it was compressed in the 90s and not a composited image. there are layers of work going into this for a very specific look, making a horror sci fi mystery noir game in the late 1920s. And where the hell are they going to draw the line?! I own Head Shot, which is an AI 3d modeler that can make a model of a person or illustration based on a photograph, fully rigged, did myself and my partner and it nailed everything first try including the facial weights. I hate it when luddites limit artistic expression.

If Val still distributed movies it means I'm spider-verse 2 could never be on steam because that used AI assistant animation and AI assisted modeling...

@eniko I got very sick a month prior to Covid being announced as in my state (it was still something outside of the US back then). They ran multiple tests but it came back as an unknown viral infection. I isolated for the 2 1/2 weeks and then covid was everywhere so I just didn't leave my apartment for like a year and a half. Whatever it was it kicked my ass very hard, but not as hard as the 2nd vaccine did, lol, but it lingered and made me very weak. The boosters also sucked but it's better than having actual covid as I know 3 people who died from it. Oh and no I did not have the antibodies in my blood for Covid prior to the vaccine according to one test so I most likely didn't have it. But whatever I did have was absolutely dreadful.
@maltzen @eniko No steam. Everything I try to port to mobile I get 95% there and then run into some bug that delays release for 2 years and I give up. One of the reasons I switched to visionaire studio was so my switch and mobile support is guaranteed. With great training wheels, comes great compatibility. IE my own code won't have a chance to fuck things up.
@eniko @maltzen same and for this very reason. I'm sorry but the dozen sales I get from Mac users doesn't even cover a year's worth of cert. The rotten Apple must fall.
@eniko this!!!!
@eniko a puzzle game that was made for charity called Chime... Closest thing I can compare it to is Tetris without the stress with soothing music that got more soothing the more you accomplished the blocks didn't fall but you eliminated them it was very weird and I've never played a game like it since.
@Bec @eniko isn't that how you bless it?
@eniko any idea of the new vaccine is out yet for that new strain that apparently gives 40-year-olds and up heart attacks? People are kind of acting like it's normal around here again and I'm on the few people that still tries to mask up... I just really don't want to die and I keep getting allergies because it's spring now and I'm always worried is this cough in my throat hurting covid or is there Scotch broom laying around nearby?
@eniko I don't know what blue sky is but the thing about Mastodon is I can't find anybody or anything... Like it's actually hard for me to navigate. Once I'm in the area I want to be it's really great but oh dear God they need I don't know I can't even say ux UI designer it's like it's fundamentally flawed in it's designed. Maybe that has to do with the decentralized nature of it I don't know it's just as a 40-year-old this is difficult.
