I think I have finally distilled exactly why I hate generative AI so much. The skill and effort required to perform a creative, non-repetitive task is a major part of a work, and of the reward. When we bypass that the result loses almost all of its meaning. Whether it’s art or writing or programming, the effort put in to master a skill, even if you’re just at the very beginning of a mastery journey and not very confident yet, THAT is what matters most.
