@gpage Those are good questions. Theme is a based on my first dice game Dice of Crowns. The players are trying to kill the current Royal without getting caught so they can assume the throne.
Players collect sets of "schemes" to trigger an attempt on the king. some cards have a counter/nope symbol that can be used to counter the scheme and prevent it.
Kind of like Kill Dr. Lucky meets Exploding Kittens.
@TimClare In the US at least you can find lots of old board games in Thrift stores (I've heard them called charity shops maybe?) the Dollar/Pound store probably also has a ton of things you can use for bits. Just a thought.
Or do what I did, which is buy a 3d printer and print all your bits. Obviously this is NOT the cheap option. :)
@tabletopgamesblog I LOVE Gaslands! It's a terrific fun game, with low barrier to entry, high ceiling for creativity, and contains a LOT of mayhem. I've designed a ton of 3d models for this game: templates, terrain, weapons/upgrades, etc.
@nickferris In the process of doing this now. I've delivered three tubs of games to the FLGS (they sell used game) and I have another two tubs to deliver in a week or so. Lots of sealed games, and stuff. I just had no hope of ever getting some of these to the table... Not gonna lie though, it's hard to admit that fact on some of these.
I forgot how tedious it could be sleeving a new card game prototype... :)
On the plus side, it's been a few years actually since I took an idea to prototype phase.
Pandemic really did a number on my game design interest levels.
