Discounter Still Life II
The work „Discounter Still Life II“ refers to the painting „#Pronkstillleven with fruit and fowl“ (1651) by Abraham Hendricksz. van Beyeren, one of the most famous Dutch still life painters. The arrangement of the original was reinterpreted in a contemporary approach using food that represents the consumption patterns of today.

Things left on the moon
Stereoscopy (1898) covered with miniature objects that represent the items left behind on the #moon during spaceflight missions: in addition to space probes, lunar vehicles, and other technical equipment, these include a bible, used diapers, soap, tools, golf balls, and cameras. To date, 190 t of material have been left behind during the missions (#NASA)

About bottle caps and a general denial of reality.
I made this work in 2012. I filled a humming top with plastic objects found in the stomach of one albatross chick on Kure Atoll (Northwestern Hawaiian islands). 340 g. Cigarette lighters, plastic fragments, toys and mainly bottle caps.
There is a reason why the lids no longer come off the bottles!

In 2006, which is almost 20 years ago now, I started to work on the #plasticcrisis. This is one of my first works. It is 20 freaking years now and we don´t even know if the final round of the #plastictreaty negotiations will get us anywhere.

Diasappearing glaciers and villages
In my series ‘Crevasse’, which I have been working on since 2022, I usually remove glaciers from postcards and photos to show how big the void is that their melting causes in the topography and in our collective memory. Since the collapse of the Birch #Glacier in Switzerland, which buried the village of #Blatten, everything has changed. I had to adapt my concept now that entire villages are disappearing: I am now also removing the villages from the cards.
