My favorite animated film was released today in 1940, Fantasia. While I love WB shorts, the Fleischer Brothers, the other Disney features & today all of Pixar, Fantasia to me will be the pinnacle of animation art, imagination, technical wonder & sheer 2D beauty on screen. I have never forgotten my first viewing in 1969, it changed my life. It introduced me to the blending of music & art in a way that has stayed with me. Pre home video era, I saw it again when reissued in 1977, 1982 & 1990.
In case you do not know anything about me, I am a classic movie fan, I love silent films, published a book on long time favorite #RudolphValentino , and love beautiful vintage portraits of Hollywood stars.

#BebeDaniels came up yesterday. She was lovely, humble, kind. Her career spanned the decades, from silents to sound and in radio and television. Much beloved in Britain where she and husband Ben Lyon kept the home fires burning on the home front during WWII. This is a favorite portrait of Bebe, that lovely smile, the twinkle in her eyes.
