So, it turns out that when Edward Lear invented the word "Runcible" it had no set meaning and nothing much stuck (except very tenuously, as a synonym for "spork").
I am now racking my brains for a suitable thing in my new space opera to pin "runcible" onto. Maybe the name of whatever they use instead of computers?
