@mariapopova Thank you so much for this! One thing that stays with me vividly from having seen the eclipse in Winnipeg in 1979 was how at the moment of totality, the roosting, gossiping birds all shut up at once.
Virginia Woolf died on this day in 1941 and left us, besides some of the most beautiful literature of our civilization, what may be the most stunning account of a total solar eclipse: https://t.co/cwHrSsdwbR

@shinmera Send her a femme presenting person and let them sort things out between them?
@len Take a small gift to your neighbors, just to say hello. Cookies or jam you made is what we do. Friends of one landlord's g'folks who lived 2 doors down repeated Josephine & Emelio's wisdom: "neighbors are first family" in part cos that's who is nearest if there is trouble.

So, it turns out that when Edward Lear invented the word "Runcible" it had no set meaning and nothing much stuck (except very tenuously, as a synonym for "spork").

I am now racking my brains for a suitable thing in my new space opera to pin "runcible" onto. Maybe the name of whatever they use instead of computers?

Y’all, the amazing Tuareg guitarist Mdou Moctar, and his band, have basically been stranded on tour, unable to return home to Niger, due to the coup there. They have a GoFundMe to help them cover living expenses while they are in limbo: https://gofund.me/5a4505c5

Side note: if you haven’t seen the film “Rain the Color of Blue With a Little Red in It,” which stars Mdou Moctar as a guitar-playing, motorcycle-riding character who bears a passing resemblance to a certain Minnesotan performer, you are in for a treat: https://boxd.it/b8cK
@SusanPotter That's an astonishing distance. That's like commuting from San Jose to Sacramento — or Fresno! Or from Minneapolis to the Iowa border, or east of Eau Claire, WI, or out past St. Cloud.
