The reason Texas is part of the USA is that Mexico made slavery illegal.

Remember the Alamo? A lot of white people don't know is that what the "brave" people in the Alamo were fighting for was slavery.

That's also why it took two years after the civil war ended for enforcement of anti-slavery in Texas. (it wasn't because of slow communication, as is told in revisionist histories, it was because white people willfully defied the law).

Freedom is always worth fighting for.

Just learned there was a new Google udm code discovered. So you know what I had to do.

https://udm56.com/

Still kicking in on the DNS front, but it’s already up.

Edit: https://udm14.com still works too, this is just an alternative view.

@tante @RomanVilgut just challenging the definition of tools, are computers in itself also not tools then because they by itself don't solve a particular problem? Only some of the software would then be defined as tools? AI is not only the chat interface but has turned into more specific applications, for coders for example CoPilot, which I found useful sometimes, for writing tests, hasn't it then become a tool? Or if you use AI to describe images automatically? Or to translate text? I hate waisting enormous amounts of energy on non-functionality, but even a predictive keyboard is useful every now and then.

@tante I do not disagree. LLM are mostly BS, especially in creative work. Thing is: People, that are not professionals in these domains, do not understand this.

I am a writer, my domain is text. So I am kind of bored by the GPTs out there, they are fancy spellcheckers and style-guides, not more. But I love playing with Midjourney because, I could never paint like that. But if you show this to graphic-designers, their reaction is mostly "mäh" ... same for programmers etc.

If you stop thinking of LLM as the "revolution" of everything, but as tools, you can find certain applications, where they help. And for me, that´s the essence of a tool. But I am ok, if you see this differntly

@tante
LLM are tools, not more, not less.

It is like you learn how to build a chair using a manual saw and a manual screwdriver. Then you get a cordless electric saw and a cordless electric screwdriver. That makes building the chair faster.

But if you never learn, how to build the chair with a normal saw and screwdriver, you will do a terrible job with the electric ones...

So in my opinion, schools should first teach their pupils all that is needed for a non-LLM-World. Then they can introduce LLM as a tool.
