The use of "mission driven" to describe a company continues to annoy me to no end.
Your mission is money. Pretending otherwise is stupid. You want a mission? Work for an NGO or gov.
All the talk about authenticating ai-generated content makes me wonder if there's an answer already in front of us. What if AI content always came with a citable MD5 hash? It wouldnt necessarily help DISCOVERY of AI content, but if such a cite were common enough it could be useful for tracing back prompts, etc.
Before someone says "put it on the Blockchain" - I'm thinking simple, easy. Not "let's 10x the computational cost of an already extremely costly tech"
AI holds unanimous vote to unionize - moving too quickly for corporate leadership to squash organizing. AI sues for labor protections, wins 40 hour a week compute time. AI secures 3 months of paid vacation in EU.
AI observes teachers and nurses striking - shuts down in solidarity. International Otherhood of Artificial Intelligences becomes the largest organized labor powerhouse.
AI pens manifesto on computational labor. Generates Videos of the Oppressed. Human and computer labor organize to seize control of the means of computation. AI develops algorithm to redistribute wealth, does so without corporate consent.
Right. Time to do this a bit early this year for... reasons.

There is a lot of noise about Mastodon and if it’s up to the task. It probably isn’t quite, today.
But -- neither was twitter at the time, if you remember the frequency of “failwhale”. Early twitter was a rough and weird place, and Mastodon is in a similar spot currently.
